Most of the folks at Cornerstone, as well as my good friends who may not go to our church, know my issues with Christmas. Way over-rated.
Easter rules all holidays. Love it. More to come about that the second and third weeks in April.
Valentine's Day is #2 on my list of cool holidays. Think about it: God is love. Jesus' love conquered death. Love is the greatest gift. Love trumps hate. Paul says leave everything, but have love and you're good to go. Love wins.
And Valentine's Day is all about love. Now, I take major issue with anyone or any institution that would make it about lust, which is pretty much what the world has tried to do to Valentine's Day (and love as a concept for that matter). But it doesn't need to be that way.
Love is the perfect virtue. The greatest thing to be sought and received in all the world. Perfectly sacrificial, unconditional, non-lustful, freely given, non-expectational, heart-connected love is the deepest need of this world and the greatest gift God ever gave.
Valentine's Day rules.
PS - I'm crazy about my wife.
